Phasing Out Subscriptions

Hello Everyone!

We are toying with the idea of phasing out our sub packages for the upcoming season. Is anyone else considering/doing the same? If so, why are you doing so (economic situation, patron interest, buying habits)?

Input from PAC's would be especially helpful.

Thanks!!

    Hello,

We are also looking at phasing out subscriptions and moving towards a membership style program.  We will still be offering some smaller "Membership Packages", which are essentially mini subscriptions, not nearly what they were before.  We will no longer offer exact seating, only accommodating seating preference when available.

We are developing our communication process with those patrons now.

Our patrons are changing in the way that they entertain themselves and how they spend their time, and fewer and fewer of them are willing to commit to dates and seats a year or so out, especially newer generations.  Subscriptions for us are floundering, on the verge of failing.  Our numbers have not grown in a while and an organizational change is needed.

Our development of a new membership program is in hopes that we can entice new patrons to join by offering them the same benefits that they would have received if we still offered subscriptions, only now it will be more flexible, more affordable and hopefully more appealing.

    Thanks,

    David

  • We're basically in the same place David. Our shows are so eclectic, and with the current last-minute buying habits we're seeing, it's hard to get those patrons to commit early. We've been solely offering a Design Your Own package for the past 3 seasons (which I should have mentioned in the original post), but even that is losing it's appeal.

That is an interesting idea, offering Membership Packages. Thanks for passing it along!
