Hi All,
Up until yesterday, we have had multiple promo codes that are not unique that were associated to different lines in an extraction set that were given unique source codes when extracted. We then take those source codes and use TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO to assign the correct promo to the correct source code. We then create an offer in season manager to that source so that the promo code gives the patron the discount associated. We usually have two different direct mail pieces that get mailed generating two different extraction sets. We also do this for email marketing with about 3 extraction sets. I know - my head hurts too.
For example: DM1 and DM2 extraction sets have 15 lines of unique sources that are created for all the names generated in each extraction set. Concurrently, we have EM1 that goes out in between these two mailings that also has 15 lines in the extraction set all getting there own unique source code. In these extractions there are 3 lines of these unique sources in each extraction that are getting a 15% off promotion. The promo code, let's say is, SPEC15. You enter that, you get the 15% off on the sections that get that offer. Fine. That's how it used to work. I didn't matter that that same promo code was in three or four or five different extraction sets.
Now, when you enter these promo codes, it will not work. If you enter the unique source code, you get the associated discount. If I inactivate all but one set of promo codes in TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO for the respective performance, it works fine. We use TNEW and are on version 5 and version 12 of Tessi. Has something recently changed?
Any insight from anyone would be great and if you need clarification, please also let me know.
Chris
Hi Chris,
The documentation for TR_Web_Source_No states when setting up a promo code for usage on the web, to not simultaneously use the same promo code for multiple sources as it will result in incorrect or unexpected behavior when the API resolves the source. Using the same promo code for multiple sources is acceptable for use within the application, though, such as when using a promo code to group and filter outside sources (like using the Newspaper promo code to group all the different newspaper sources).
However, if you would like the Web Products Team to dig further into this, I would recommend submitting a TASK ticket and we would be happy to investigate.
Thank you,
Melissa
