Hi,
We recently converted to v12, and we're finding challenges adjusting to the new pricing set-up. We previously would use the same price type for different ticket designs whereas in v12 we can't do that. We also on every price type would assign a service charge and facility fee pricemap. We would just grab the service charge pricemap and facility fee pricemap for the facility and then in season manager we would add the price type to the run. For dynamic pricing we wouldn't expire the pricemap but would instead add a new pricemap with a different price category in order to track the income earned thru dynamic pricing.
In v12 we're finding it's a lot more steps to do what we used to do. We're wondering what is the best practice for setting up new prices that will save us the most time, as we sometimes can have 20 different promotions for the same 5 1/2 week production plus dynamic pricing.
Thank you,
Lou Ann
The thing to note about ticket designs in V.12 is that the setting in price type setup is only a default. You can still assign designs per-performance/price on the pricing setup screen (properties) for the perf.
Thought I would update this thread. Yes, we did need to learn (and are still learning) about the new pricing set-up. We did some experimenting about how our builds will be easier, and we are going to continue with our (ad hoc) process for this season at least.
We have a policy where our ticket price include everything (facility fees, service charge, tax); consequently we include facility fees and service charges as separate layers. The problem is that certain constituencies receive discounts on their tickets for the entire ticket amount. However facility fees and service charge are not discounted. This causes us not to be able to do bulk edits on multiple prices via pricing events with a set amount or set percentage. We feel it is easier to add the dynamic pricing as a layer and then go into the layer and edit it when it needs to be increased.
It probably plays havoc with exchanges, as the original price no longer exists, but because this only applies for single tickets exchanges don't occur very often.
