Our marketing team has asked us to come up with a way to offer a 24 hour pre-sale to the general public for one of our 13 productions during our member exclusive on-sale.
We have custom code in place to determine what member levels have access to purchase tickets on our website, and the date for our general public to purchase is set further in the future.
Has anyone ever offered this type of pre-sale for only one of many productions? What have you done to accomplish this? We would also like to avoid the use of a promo code if possible.
Thanks Brooke. We’ve never experimented with using a MOS switch for an offer, but I think this is the route we need to go. Just a question, when you are applying the offer to the specific production, how do you account for multiple price types? We’re not offering a discount and do have multiple default price types that a patron could choose in the course of buy a ticket. Do you apply the offer for each of the default price types that a patron could choose for that production? So in our case we have 11 default price types, so I would apply the offer 11 times to each performance?

Hi Michele,
We use modes of sale to control access to our productions during priority on sale periods. We would simply set the general public modes of sale to start later (or at the same time for that one production in your case).
You could also embed a link (that secretly contains a promo code that they never have to enter and switches their MOS for that particular production) within an email to people if you wanted to do it that way.
Is that helpful at all?
B
