Promo Code(s)

We're using a T-NEW site and I'm wondering if anyone else has this experience, or if i'm missing something big.

If I set up an Offer with a Promo Code, it seems to only open up a Mode of Sale, but has no way to control to a specific price type. This presents an issue with running multiple concurrent promotions, where if a patron has one Promo Code and enters it on the site, any promotional price becomes available to them. I would like to use a promo code to present the user with one specific price type.

The only solution I can muster is that I might have to have additional Modes of Sale?

So, am I missing something?

Thanks everyone!

    Hi Jeff,

I’ve found that the only way to ensure you present customers with a specific discounted price type, attached to a specific promo code, is creating a specific MOS. At first I thought, lordie, that means a myriad of MOS! But I guess you just have to have a myriad of different MOS, which isn’t a big deal in the end. I have a few MOS for specific promotions like our $20s/$30s programme, COMPed events etc….Not sure how others deal with this.

There are useful explanations for your next question which I suspect will be “why aren’t the promo codes coming up in source reports?!”. Check out the forum for those J

    Cheers

    Thanks for your response, Krys.

Unfortunately, even though you can specify the proper price type for a given offer, the Promo Code is assigned only to a Source, and triggers a change in Mode of Sale but not price type. At this point I have one Promo Code that opens directly to the correct price type but the second promo code makes both price types available.

In both offers I have the correct price type selected and the default price type override checked on. but only the older of the two seems to work.

    What am I missing?

You are able to specify a Price Type to a specific Promo Code. Double check that your price type is available for your Web MOS (In v12 you'd go to MOS/Price Type under Ticket Setup or in previous versions this will be available in your Securities.)

Once you've opened up your MOS to your price type, you'll be able to specify you MOS, Price Type, Appeal, and Source Name for a specific offer your doing.

Hope that helps! Let me know if I can help in any way!
