Promo Code(s)

We're using a T-NEW site and I'm wondering if anyone else has this experience, or if i'm missing something big.

If I set up an Offer with a Promo Code, it seems to only open up a Mode of Sale, but has no way to control to a specific price type. This presents an issue with running multiple concurrent promotions, where if a patron has one Promo Code and enters it on the site, any promotional price becomes available to them. I would like to use a promo code to present the user with one specific price type.

The only solution I can muster is that I might have to have additional Modes of Sale?

So, am I missing something?

Thanks everyone!

You are able to specify a Price Type to a specific Promo Code. Double check that your price type is available for your Web MOS (In v12 you'd go to MOS/Price Type under Ticket Setup or in previous versions this will be available in your Securities.)

Once you've opened up your MOS to your price type, you'll be able to specify you MOS, Price Type, Appeal, and Source Name for a specific offer your doing.

Hope that helps! Let me know if I can help in any way!

Unfortunately, even though you can specify the proper price type for a given offer, the Promo Code is assigned only to a Source, and triggers a change in Mode of Sale but not price type. At this point I have one Promo Code that opens directly to the correct price type but the second promo code makes both price types available.

In both offers I have the correct price type selected and the default price type override checked on. but only the older of the two seems to work.

    What am I missing?

  • Is it a new price type set up specifically for use with the offer?  If so, you have to make sure the price type is attached to the desired MOS in System Tables AND you have to assign price type access to the appropriate user groups via the Security module (I think that last step may be different in v12, we're still on v11).  Forgetting that last step has messed me up in the past.

  • I'm pretty confident I've hit these areas. If the user group and the Pricetype-MOS were'nt associated, then I don't think that the price type would show on the website at all. The issue is that the desired pricetype AND others in that mode of sale show up after entering the promo code.

  • Hi Jeff,

You mention that with the first promo code you enter the correct price type shows up but when you enter the second promo code you can then see multiple. I've encountered this behaviour when testing as well. Something to do with caching... the website is remembering that you've already opened up the original price type so it shows you both. To my knowledge, we've never had a customer be able to access all the price types because they would typically only enter the one password they've been given.

I believe if you wipe your browser history it should go back to normal.
