Hello,
At the Theatre by the Lake, we offer various kinds of season tickets that prove popular with our customers.
We have an 8 show deal where customers pay a set price, and then may book their tickets throughout the season:
>They can choose from certain dates ( e.g. they are restricted to the number of Saturdays).
>They may pick any seats.
>The deals spans across two venues, the main house and the studio, and incorporates the spring, summer and winter season.
> currently they are also charged a £1 fee for changing the dates of their tickets, although this is under review.
We are looking into the option of a flexible package setup on Tessitura, as our current system of selling these deals is time consuming and occasionally problematic.
Have any venues had success implementing a flexible package for a similar kind of season deal?
Any advice on how Tessitura packages have been used to facilitate similar offers would be most appreciated.
Many thanks,
Erica Morris
Hi Erica,
Not sure if you want to go this route or not but this is how we accomplish something similar at the ESO.
Ours is essentially a voucher based system. We have a fixed seat 'dummy' package attached to a single performance. The number of package seats they purchase to this dummy package determines the number of vouchers they are able to redeem. Vouchers may be redeemed for any available seat for most performances in a given season (excludes galas and fundraisers). If they redeem their voucher and then exchange to a different date they are charged a standard exchange fee.
The pitfalls of this is that we currently can't sell this online without customization (still on our wishlist) and they are currently unable to redeem online (again, wishlist). But if you have the option to customize your website then that may not be an issue for you. The benefits are that it is easy for our staff to manage when and where the vouchers may be redeemed, we can easily see how many outstanding vouchers a given customer has at any time, we can easily see which performances they redeemed for, and it's fairly painless to setup and manage from the ticketing side.
Again, not sure if this route is of interest to you but if you'd like more info feel free to send me an email. I'm positive there are other ways to accomplish more or less what you're looking for so hopefully if anyone else has a different method they will respond!

Thanks very much, Beth. We have discussed a voucher system so good to know how yours works. The downside is not having the option for customers to buy and manage their season ticket online which would be the ideal.

Janna at Yale used to (according this old forum post) http://www.tessituranetwork.com/COMMUNITY/forums/p/6973/22005.aspx#22005
Sounds like it wasn't ideal but perhaps you could ask her more about that!
We’ve never done this but I’m curious if anyone has done this with gift certificates. That way patrons could “reserve/ purchase” online.
