Rotate Barcode in PAHT template

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible / how to rotate a barcode field in Adobe? Our ticket_no barcode runs vertically on our ticket stock ticket, but I'd like it to run horizontally on our PAH ticket. I obviously don't want to change the alignment in the Tess Ticket Design...

Thanks for any tips!

Like many organizations, we have two barcodes on our PAH tickets.  One barcode is horizontal; the other vertical.

We use Adobe to open the *.pdf, then select View>Tools>Forms>Edit and select the field with the barcode.

    Right-click>Properties on the field.

Under the General Tab in the Common Properties area:

Vertical         we change the orientation value to 90 degrees

Horizontal      value should be 0 degrees.

Your Adobe may behave differently, or you may not have the same options (we have Adobe Acrobat X).

We’ve tried to re-size the barcode, but so far we haven’t determined a process that works (but it isn’t a high priority right now).

I realize this may not help, but hoping a piece may …

  • Hi Frances

I'm dealing with the same issue in the moment. I have a vertical barcode on the ticket design, and would like it to be horizontal on the PAH ticket. Even though I set the barcode field to 90 degress on the PAH ticket, it is still vertical. Did you manage to rotate the barcode on the PAH ticket?

  • Hi Louise,

Emailed you off the thread, but will also update here - I ended up using a form type of barcode instead of text field and that worked for horizontal alignment. Hope that helps!

  • Now bear with me a second as I attempt to explain our solution to this issue. What you need to do is in Ticket Design in Tessitura, you need to extend the Maximum columns on the ticket design you are using out beyond the parameters of your physical ticket stock. For us our ticket dimensions are about 400X1200 but I changed it to 400x2000. That makes a large margin of unused space on the right side of your design.

You can now add additional data elements to this margin that will not print on the physical ticket stock, but you can orient those elements, lets say a barcode the way you would want it on your PAHT, and then use that design element # in lieu of the element # that prints on Boca tickets. That's what we've done and it seems to work so far.

And make sure you extend the ticket design horizontally. If you extend the Maximum rows to make it vertically longer, whatever elements are under your ticket will get bumped up when the Boca prints and it will look really really weird.

If I didnt explain this very well just email me at jdillman@unl.edu. I can probably take a screenshot of the ticket design in Tessitura to better explain.

  • Hello, digging up this old thread as we are trying to do the same.

I have tried setting the rotation on the form box in our PDF however the barcode does not rotate.

I took 's suggestion of using a barcode type field, however the rotate option is greyed out for that form field type.

    Any suggestions?
