Fees - To layer or not

Hi everyone:

I'm hoping those with more experience can share what's worked best with fees. We're a new venue (our second season) and new to Tessitura. This season, we've added a Historic Preservation fee in addition to our Per Ticket and Subs Order Fee.

HPF is $2 per ticket for all single tickets and preferred to be rolled into the price. I've currently set it up as a fee in Price Maps and will layer it for each Price Type and Map. What's your experience?

We also have a $5 HPF for subs (per order only). I'm not seeing a way to include in a per ticket fashion but we really don't want it showing up as a separate line item in addition to our $14 subscription fee (Per Order basis).

Appreciate any experience you have or ideas!

Thanks much.

  • Hi Michelle,

We also have a fee similar to your $2 HPF. It is added as its own price map (or price layer in v12) and is rolled into the price that the customer sees. It's always worked well for us and having it in its own price map/layer means we can send it to the appropriate GL.

In regards to your $5 HPF, is the concern what your customers will see on your website? Since it's a per order fee you won't be able to build this into the subscription price as a rolled in fee, as I think you've discovered. I know when we launched our website a few years ago there was discussion about how fees would be presented to the customer and all of ours are lumped in together. So on our website the $14 sub fee and the $5 HPF would simply show at $19 flat. But that would be something you would have to discuss with your web developer.

    Good luck!
