Would anyone be able to give me a step-by-step of how to build a BOGO promo code in version 12? Since this changeover, I haven't quite figured out how to do this type of promo code. Any help is appreciated!
I think you may be thinking of the new Pricing Rules function which actually doesn't come out until V12.5! We are excited for that functionality here as well.
Well, I'm just needing to build a new promo code that is a BOGO. I haven't done this before, and would love if someone could give me a step-by-step of how to build a BOGO price type
Currently, this can't be done automatically with a promo code. The way we've accomplished BOGO here is using a paid price type and a free price type. When an order is booked by the box office they simply select one paid and one free manually. This upcoming season is the first time we've been able to offer this online and it took some fancy custom web work by our web developers to accomplish. Unfortunately, I can't speak to the web side of things about what was involved in making that happen.
That's really helpful Beth! I have been wondering if there is an easy way that they can select a full priced ticket and unlock a free price type....but I'm seeing that there isn't a way to force them to only purchase one free ticket...most people are honest, but I'm using a 50% off code for now to accomplish a BOGO price
We just had the need for this as well, and moved forward with a 50% off - our Marketing team adjusted the language on the add, etc. to match. Looking forward to hearing more about pricing rules!
If it truly is “buy ONE, get ONE” you could at least control the number of free tickets purchased by linking the promotion to an offer which unlocked a free ticket price type with a limit of 1 (while having the full price still available in the MOS that allows the free ticket). Alternatively, have the offer unlock a half-price price type with a limit of 2…
Ooh! Good point, Jonathan. For us, it isn't limited to ONE of each. They can buy multiple but can't have the number of freebies be more than the number of paid. So that method doesn't quite work for us. But that would definitely be helpful for others!
