Dinner and an Opera, etc

Hello Tessiturians,

I'm hoping that one of you is doing what we're looking to and can help me out.

We are looking to offer "dinner and an opera" to our patrons. This has been offered in the past but I'd like to streamline it a bit more. The premise; there is a fixed ticket amount where x dollars would be the ticket and x dollars would be the meal voucher. We will be partnering with local restaurants where the patron can turn that voucher in and get their meal. We need to have that voucher go to a separate GL line than the ticket income GL and have a voucher print for the meal. Concurrently, we want to be able to offer this program on our website (we use TNEW). I know...crazy town. I've thought about this being a package, per se, and creating a GA house for the voucher. That seems to be one way to manage this but, honestly, I want this to be as easy as possible for setup, and also something we could offer for subscribers next renewal season. I've been throwing around in my noggin how to do this using price layers but sadly, my brain simply can't think that complex.....yet.

If any of you are going to conference, I'll be there and will have access to our Tessitura and would LOVE to talk through this in person. If not and you are a wiz at Tessitura Magic, by all means respond.

I would suggest creating separate Price Types for the VIP tickets since there is also a premium that usually goes back to The Lion King to pay for the merch.

If you want to talk about it on the phone tomorrow I’ll be happy to share screenshots. 786-468-2330

    Hi Nicole,

I have Lion King coming and we use price zones for their VIP tickets where they get a ticket and a free merchandise item.  the ticket design is tied to the price type and we use the same price type just different prices for the VIP price zones.  Do you have any ideas on how to handle VIP tickets and getting patrons a voucher fr their free merchandise.

    Hi Christopher!

We have set up several ticket designs to have one stub act as a voucher so that we can do things like this. This way instead of printing a whole separate ticket for the voucher it automatically is part of the ticket design. We also use separate price maps (still on V11) with separate GLs to track the money properly. We also use separate Price Map Categories to track the purposes. I’ll see you at TLCC.
