Complicated Package configuration... Help?

Hi everyone,

I have a very limited amount of time to figure out how to do a pretty complicated TNEW-ready package sale. I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction for configuration...

We are doing a weekend of events that is kind of like a museum installation, but with capacity controlled events occurring throughout the weekend (in addition to static installations). Basically, buyers can purchase a weekend pass for a flat rate, and then must reserve the specific performances during that weekend that they want to attend.

So in a little more detail, let's say we have three different shows with three performances each. Show A, show B, and show C, each with a perf on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A customer pays $30 for their pass, and then chooses at most 1 performance from each show to attend as part of their package. So, there is a flex element to this -- if the customer can only make one or two of the shows, they can they shouldn't have to reserve the second and third.

I realize there's room for a considerable amount of logic here, but we're not going to worry about potential overlap or day scheduling -- we just want to allow the reservation of no more than one perf per show, ideally.

My biggest worry at this point is the variable number of total performances combined with a flat rate for at max 4 shows as part of the pass.

Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated!

  • So I am just kind of thinking here but could you sell a pass into a dummy perf that then gives the customer a ranking that would allow the access to the flex subscription? The flex sub could be $0 per ticket with a minimum of 1 and max of 4?  Not sure if that would work so it's a bit theoretical.

  • You’d need to test this, but it may work…

    Setup 4 separate perf groups:

    1.       “Weekend Pass”

    2.       Show A with all Fri, Sat and Sun show dates (and all 3 performance times for each day)

    3.       Show B with all Fri, Sat and Sun show dates (and all 3 performance times for each day)

    4.       Show C with all Fri, Sat and Sun show dates (and all 3 performance times for each day)

    Setup 1 package:

    -Flex Package

    -Min perfs: 1

    -Max perfs: 4

-Groups in Package: Add all 4 of your perf groups with the ‘Weekend Pass" being “min 1 and max 1” and the rest of the perf groups being “min 0 and max 1”.

In theory, I would think that then the customer will have to select the “Weekend Pass”, but can pick and choose a max of one perf from the each of the actual shows.

Not sure how it would look on TNew.

    Hope that helps maybe!

  • I think Allison's solution is probably the simplest that meets your needs as long as you can put the full cost on the Weekend Pass performance and keep the actual events at $0.  If finance needs require you to allocate revenue equally to all events that are chosen you might have to get a little fancier and create 4 separate flex packages.  You could use the name to distinguish, (1 Show Weekend Pass, 2 Show Weekend Pass, etc...) and have separate price types for each that divide revenue appropriately.  Then you'd set the min and max total performances for each to 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively with the min and max for each performance group at 1 and 1.

I'm also not real familiar with TNEW to know how this would work online, but it certainly seems like it should.

  • Thank you all SO MUCH! I think this is going to work perfectly.

We do a bunch of crazy MOS-based packages with TNEW customizations, but I'm totally new at native flex packages. This moment of clarity was just what I needed today, too!
