Bar Codes On Tickets

Morning All

We’re looking at implementing scanning tixs on entry to venues and thus are investigating bar codes on tickets

The N-Scan Number field that prints on the ticket is quite large and we are wondering if it is possible to shorten it (using masking) and for it to be still valid for the readers

Thanks is advance

If you use the N-Scan number at all, that barcode must not be shortened. The scanning routines depend on being able to decode the entire 20-digit string, which is a composite of the performance number and the ticket number, padded and randomized.

As Nicole points out, putting both barcodes on the ticket is an option. However, for offline scanning (off-site or in cases where there is not wireless coverage) only the N-Scan Number barcode is effective.
