We are looking to start signing our subscribers up for auto-renewal.- purchase this season, and we'll renew you for next season without the hassle of phone calls or forms type of thing. This is our first season offering auto-renew and we're also fairly new Tessitura users (about a year). So I have really, one question:
How does one build auto-renew functionality in Tessitura? Namely, how does one sign a subscriber up for auto-renew in 2014, and then properly bill and charge them in 2015?
Any tips, tricks or how-to's would be great appreciated. Thanks.
My suggestion would be to create a constituency or attribute that states what patrons want auto renew. You’d need to make sure the credit card they give has a cancellation date later in 2015 so you wouldn’t need to call the patron for that info. You could then pull that list of patrons when renewal 2015 comes along. Depending on the number of patrons who want to do this auto-renewal, you could either manually add a payment plan to those orders so you can authorize all cards en masse OR if there is a large amount of people who use this program, you may need to research the ability to add the payment plan automatically to all those accounts on the back-end.
That to me would be the easiest way to set up the auto-renewal. That way, you don’t have to set up all sorts of fake houses and such.

Further to Chris's advice, you might want to run the 'Purge Credit Card Account Data' report in the Data Management folder to clean up existing credit card details in your database if you don't already.
