Hello,
I am trying to put together a business case to hopefully get N-Scan implemented at my venue. Can anyone help me out with analysis on how much it cost you and how quickly you were able to re-coup the overall cost? Also if you could specify where you were able to make savings, etc that would be great.
Thanks!
Paul
Paul,
The Science Museum implemented N-Scan as part of our online, print-at home strategy. It was motivated primarily as customer service. We have seen a substantial reduction in box office traffic, as all online patrons print their tickets and can avoid even the will call line. For very popular special exhibits which tend to sell out quickly on busy days, we see more patrons buying online rather than calling or walking up, again saving box office staffing. We have even seen an increase in members going on line to use the PAH feature, even though they pay a small fee, and a phone reservation is free for members (regular visitors like members know we can have box office lines when kids are off school). So it’s win-win: visitors avoid lines and get into the times they want; the museum reduces box office/will call payroll and generates a nice fee income! Ron Wilson did our actual install and it was painless and has worked very well. The hardware was the big upfront cost, and most problems we have relate to either staff misusing the scanners or our wireless network.
Hope this helps.
