BOCA Printer DUAL MINI DUAL -44A Printing Blank Tickets

We have a Boca Dual Mini/Dual-44A printer that is printing blank tickets. We have it connected via an HP Jet Direct and the printer is configured as a Generic Text

Has anyone else exprienced the same problem, if so how did you fix it.

Thanks

  • I am assuming you mean it is printing blank tickets in between normal prints, and not that all tickets are blank?

If you do mean printing blanks in between the actual printed tickets, there are a handful of things that can cause that. Have you tried cleaning the printer? According to Boca that's the most common cause for random blank tickets.

Open up the case and if you have any canned air, blow out the ticket dust. Also try cleaning the print head and/or platen with isopropyl alcohol on a paper towel. If cleaning doesn't work, the print head might need to be replaced. Another thing would be if there's a problem with the black ink on the back of the ticket (the wide black bar), either if the ink is too harsh or too lightly printed, or if there is black ink on the back of the ticket stock anywhere but that black bar, anyway if that black bar isn't to Boca's specifications the printer can spit blanks. A word of caution: if the problem is with the ticket stock, it's possible it damaged other parts of the printer as well. We had some bad stock a couple years ago and it ruined both the print heads and the optos on three of our printers, so they still had the problem even after we got new stock and we had to replace those parts. If cleaning the printer doesn't stop the blanks, you may want to have Boca check the stock you're using and make sure it's not the issue.
