Online Package Sales for Different Venues

Hoping someone may be able to offer some advice...

This season we are offering a 4 pack and 3 pack subscription choice spanning 2 different venues. We have set it up for box office by having the 2nd venue as an "add on" at the performance level since there were too many variables/unknowns to set it up as a true super package. This is manageable in house but we are running into problems with deciding how to sell it online. The main issues are that the second venue has a choice of 11 different performance nights, and has no correlation to the first venue in terms of price zones. This is important since we have 6 different price zones in our first venue with 6 different package prices. The 2nd venue only has 3 price zones so the way we built it in house we need to make sure that the correct price zone is purchased to make the correct end package price. Obviously, online we can't do this and we need to be sure that someone buying in the lowest price zone in venue 1 isn't being seated in the premium seating in venue 2.

Since we would prefer to keep package prices "fixed" we are not finding any way to put this online. We have thought about super packages, but would have to build every package configuration possible and this would be too confusing for the buyer, plus we would not have a way of controlling which price zone they buy into in the 2nd venue. We have looked at flex packages but would have no control over which shows they choose, how many seats for each show, and which price zones they buy into. As an add on, we still have no control over the price zone they buy into for the performance in the 2nd venue....Hope I am making sense, here...

Anyone have any suggestions?

  • To my knowledge, there isn't a way to control the price sections they select between the venues.  We have packages like this, too, that are built as flex.  We promote them as a certain price for a zone but it's only really possible to get the correct price with sales through our ticket office agents since online sales, a patron can pick whichever zone they want.  By putting them online, you give up the control a bit.  There may be a way to get some custom work on your online site to ensure people select the correct zones to get the correct price but we felt it was alright if folks wanted to pick different areas.
