Multiple Choice Dinner Package

Hi everyone:

I've been reading through posts and I managed to find a few from 3 years ago that address dinner packages but none that address multiple choice restaurants with a show and SYOS.  I thought I'd put this out to all the Tessitura gurus and see if any of you have experience with this.

I've been tasked to set up in Tessitura and TNEW a show with SYOS with the option of:

Purchase the show only OR (the show by the way is already on sale and is part of a three week long run)

Purchase the show and dinner package.  The venue for dinner will be one of three so this means I need to keep the performance static but allow flex / multiple choice for the dinner.  I don't want dinner revenue mixed with ticket revenue.  I need to keep those separate.

My first thought was adding three new price types as the restaurants to a single price map attached to the show. Works in theory but not sure how this will come out in TNEW.

Flex package is possible as well i.e., must purchase the show plus one of three restaurants offerings and one can still SYOS. I'm going to post in the TNEW area as well but thought some of you may have dealt with this already.

Thanks for any assistance!

  • Hi Michelle,

I have sold dining options as a flex package with two perf groups where one performance must be selected from each group.  The first group is the performances of the actual show.  The second group is performances for the dinner.  I made one dinner performance to match up to each real performance.

Another option would be to make a new package for each show.  This way the patron doesn't have to scroll through performance and dinner date options with the responsibility of making sure to get the same date each time.  It's more work for you, but easier for the patron.

To make the dinner performance work for multiple restaurants (or entrée options) I had one price type with multiple price zones.  Each price zone would be labeled with a description of the restaurant.  Your proposal of three price types for three restaurants will work of course, I just submit this as an alternative.  I like it because I don't have to apply security rights for new price types and I think it is easier for an online shopper to select from zones instead of price types.

You may want to leave SYOS on for the real performance and then turn it off for the dinner performance.

Using a flex package you are still restricted to selling the same number of seats for the real performance and the dinner performance but hopefully it is a rare exception where you would need them to be different.

With everything set up you can go back to the information page for the single event and add a link to the dinner package.

    Good luck.
