Groupon and LIving Social

Hello!

We’re working on moving forward with a variety of third party vendor scenarios, one of which includes offering Groupon/Living Social types of deals for a date range of museum admissions.  For those who may have a similar situation, how are you setting it up? Specifically, we’re looking for a set-up that allows us to:

·         Collect patron information

·         Allow patrons to redeem vouchers online.

·         Keep accurate attendance and average ticket price numbers

·         Show the patron an accurate representation of perceived amount paid and still reconcile with finance/ the third party vendor; specifically around the ability of patrons to view past orders online.

·         Account for revenue breakage over attendance.

Currently we’re testing a monthly voucher performance (in a separate voucher season) to book revenue and offered vouchers, while zero dollar ticket values and promo codes would allow for voucher redemption online. This fulfills all our requirements except for skewing daily average ticket price. We’d like to avoid high levels of busywork for our staff and I’m starting to consider a custom stored procedure. Does anyone have some creative solutions?

Also, what process are you using to honor original value paid, when a Groupon or LivingSocial coupon comes in after expiration? I’m looking at either an already received payment method or price adjustment.

Thank you for the insight and Happy Holidays,
