Flexible Seating Space

Has anyone found an approach for a venue that has a flexible seating plan - i.e., a black box theater that may be in a proscenium configuration for one production and a thrust for the next?

If you have such a space, how did you build the seats in Tessitura? Did you build all possible configurations in different maps or screens? Or did you build a single seat map that to accommodate the different configurations?

Have you ever needed to change the configuration of a space after tickets had been reserved? Were you forced to return tickets in order to re-seat them?

I'd be interested in hearing your stories, and the pros and cons of your approaches.

thanks!

  • Brian,

We have a space like this that is a different configuration for each production every season for one of our resident companies.  It’s not a pleasant thing to work with, but is doable.

If you’d like to discuss in further detail, I’m happy to talk offline.
