Processing a gift membership and applying soft credits thru Contribution module works well. On the Ticket side, we seem to end up with a variety of methods and all manually intensive.
I've looked over the new Initiator/owner/recipient features coming in v.12 and these still don't seem to address the process when a person gives another the gift of subscription or streaming access package. It looks like it will be better for single sale tickets.
As we continue to clean up our records we are finding some Households that are shall we say "rather" mixed because of the ticket gift giving at some point over the years.
We are looking at the Relationship feature and perhaps some custom fields but before going to far down this rabbit hole, we'd like to hear if any other site has set up a way to gift subscription or other ticket packages that it feels works well.

In v12 you could set the gift recipient to the subscription order owner and the gift giver to the initiator. There is no restriction on who can be an initiator for an order; there doesn’t need to be a relationship between the owner and the recipient. Then the order would be listed on the recipient’s and giver’s accounts (on the Orders tab and the Ticket History screens, assuming you install the new standard screens or update your existing custom screens). Would that not work for you?
