I would like to be ale to set up Gift Certificate selling online.  I have looked and read the help desk answer which does not actually show me how to do anything.  Anyone out there selling these online and willing to point me in the right direction?

  • Hi Horacio,

Given you are a TNEW client and still on V3.5, why not set up a performance with various price types to reflect different amounts?

Assign the TN_Express_AUX keyword to this performance and applicable web mode of sale.

Enable auxiliary button on your calendar page (optional) in LTR_TN_EXPRESS_WEB_DEFAULTS in the "module" field otherwise link to the performance page as you wish.

Here are two examples where this is applied:

    Where I work now: http://tickets.musicaviva.com.au/auxiliary/Reserve.aspx?p=5399

Where I used to work: http://mybrandenburg.com.au/auxiliary/Reserve.aspx?p=73744

The only dilemma - someone will have to cancel the order and apply funds to gift certificate payment method but it's not a huge deal.

TNEW V4 will let you buy and redeem vouchers so the above is a quick fix unless you are about to upgrade fairly soon.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

  • I am reopening this discussion - we are not using TNEW but was wondering if anyone had any insights into how we could sell gift certificates online? Is anyone doing this without using TNEW?

    Thanks in advance....

  • Hi Tracey,

Non-TNEW clients sell them so you should talk with your web developer about enabling them for sale.

If it is just selling, the SOAP methods PurchaseGiftCertifate and RemoveGiftCertificate (if the patron decided to delete a GC in the shopping cart) are used.  There are other methods available for online redemption if you decided to open up that service to your patrons.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

    Hi Tracey,

We sell gift certificates and gift memberships via our website and we are not on TNEW. The certificates themselves are generated outside of Tessitura but the orders are created as per usual in Tessitura and higher level gift membership purchases automatically create a CSI that our Development team pick up and action. You can see the form and designs here.

We worked with our web developers to achieve this functionality.

Only downside is occasionally people will email the certificates straight to the recipient and type in the wrong email address, in which case we have to go searching through our web tickets (where a copy of every order confirmation and gift certificate is sent) to locate them and manually redo them. Happily this does not happen very often!
