Corporate Sales and Development Officer

Does anyone have an employee that works to foster a relationship with corporations in the community in order to both sell tickets and solicit donations and sponsorship?  We are looking to shift how we look at the group sales position and are trying to think out the logistics of one person working toward both ends and are looking for any advice or real world examples anyone might have.
