PAHT/N-SCAN Question

I was wondering if I could get your experience with the Print at Home ticketing service and about what percentage of your ticketing is done through it.

We are looking into implementing the service with N-Scan and if you could also let me know what your experience might be with it.

  • Disappointed that no-one else has responded to this (now old) thread.  We are rolling out PAHT and NSCAN this year.  The latter we began testing at the end of our last season.  About half of our ticket stock (from the early part of the year) was printed incorrectly for NSCAN, so we were having to mix scanning and tearing.  When our new season starts in August, we'll be trying to fully implement NSCAN.  That said, we have an interesting situation in that we manage a number of venues, only one of which do we currently have the ability to scan, due to wireless availability.

The NSCAN part has been mostly figured out.  Our big issue was maintaining connectivity to our devices in our one scanning venue.  Fortunately we contracted out the wireless point to campus IT, so they were able to help us troubleshoot.  The problem was that the front of our house is a wall of enormous windows pointing out over a plaza surrounded by offices and buildings which are blasting out a variety of EMR types which tend to interfere with wireless transmissions -- including other wireless routers, cordless phones and even microwave ovens.  We adjusted our devices to use shorter wavelength frequencies (A/B rather than the newer wireless modes) and have had little trouble since.

The other thing to bear in mind with scanning is that there there needs to be a good amount of thought and testing for things like training the front of house staff (there are subtleties to scanning effectively and quickly that have to by tried to be appreciated) and also very likely rethinking how you handle flow at the doors to accomodate the new ability to catch problem tickets.

Our PAHT schedule has been delayed waiting for the new functionality in 9.0, and I am just beginning to try to set that up in our Dev environment.  I just upgraded the Dev environment last week, and have not yet managed to get PAHT running there -- in fact I was scanning the forum when I found this message before posting a query about that.

Have you guys done any more since you posted this message?
