Print Screen Option in Tessitura V11

Hello,

We have a Tessitura User that just received a new computer.  When he tries to use the print screen option within Tessitura  it only prints parts of the screen shot and he says it used to print the full screen before the computer swap.

He is still using the same monitor and the same printer.  I have changed the screen resolution but that had no effect.  I have used the scaling feature in Tessitura under Tools>Preferences which helped a bit, but anything under 90% is extremely difficulty to view.   I have looked through the printer preferences for that particular printer to see if there is an option to "shrink to page", but did not see that option.

I did read in the forum, that you can use an alternate method by pressing Alt+Print Scrn and pasting it in a photo editor.  But given the fact that he had this ability before it would be difficult to revert him to using an alternate method.

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • The Print Screen option in the Tessitura File Menu has only ever printed a screenshot of the application itself, not the full desktop.

  • I think I misread this slightly.  If I assume correctly, they are seeing that the printed page is chopping off the right side and possibly the bottom portion of the screenshot.  What I think you are seeing is a difference in DPI settings between printers, and not necessarily a difference in the way the application works.  I would compare DPI settings for image printing between the old and new computers.

The Print Screen menu item is not going to do any sort of image handling prior to printing (like fitting the image to the page size).  Alt+Printscreen is the next best suggestion, pasting into an application (such as the Windows Paint application) where you have better control over how the image is printed on paper.

  • That is correct.

We have an imaging software(symantec ghost), so the windows settings for the entire company unless otherwise changed after deployment are set to normal(dpi) which is our standard setting for all machines.

I will lower the resolution on a machine and lower the dpi.  Then use the print screen option to see if that helps or fixes the problem.

Thank you for your help.  Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • I was referring to the DPI setting on the printer, which can vary.  Tessitura is optimized for the normal DPI setting (96), so I wouldn’t recommend using large fonts organization wide.

    YMMV!

  • I see.  What gets me is the only thing that was replaced in this situation was the staff members computer.  The printer is his own in his office that was not altered.

Thanks again, I will look into the printer settings either way.

  • Does anyone have a solution to this?

    Thanks much,

    Puzant

  • Puzant, if Ryan's suggestions did not help the situation, my recommendation would be to open a support ticket for the issue and we will assist you.
