We are having difficulty in getting the scanners to recognize the barcodes. We have MC55's, and have loaded, wiped and reloaded the NSCAN software no less than 6 times on multiple devices. We have manually installed and setup the software one multiple devices, and have also created a "gold" image and pushed the image to other devices. In all cases, I can get the profiles to load and sync when NSCAN is launched, server connection is OK, all settings match up, the profiles are loaded into everything looks great, however when I scan a bar coded ticket, NOTHING happens, no beep, no entry, no data... nothing. <bang head here>
In Tessitura, LTR_NSCAN_Defaults have "Use Performance Door Times: set to "Yes", LTR_NSCAN_Zone_Times, LTR_NSCAN_Monitor_Security, LTR_NSCAN_Entrance, and LTR_NSCAN_Access_Areas are empty tables since we do not use those at this time, LTR_NSCAN_Profile has entries in: Device, UserID, Facility, Allow Seat Check, and Allow Monitor. Nothing in Perf No. All that looks correct from documentation.
Two "test" performances were created, both on the same day in two separate Facilities. Both facility number are in the Profiles table. One perf is GA, the other is assigned seating. One was set to start at 8PM, the other at 9PM. For both, "Doors Open" were set at 12 hours before the start time.
We are using typ 128Numeric bar codes on our tickets, but have also tried the other ones as well. We created a test ticket design that had all three barcodes on it, and none of them would register.
The MC55's are running Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 Classic, and are brand new out of the box. We have loaded NSCAN 5.31. When we launch NSCAN on the device, we get confirmation that "Device profile updated" and we can browse the NSCAN server link without problem.
We are running WPA2/AES, hidden SSID, MAC filtered, static IP exclusive WLAN, so I don't believe that connectivity is the issue.
We need to get our tickets to the printer for the upcoming season but I cant authorize their release until I can get at least ONE ticket to validate. So far, no joy.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE> Forgot to mention, I can MANUALLY enter a ticket number and the scanner WILL grab the information and populate the scanner with the details, so I can see its working, its just not scanning...
Here’s a simple test. Try scanning any other barcodes like a coke can or a book, and see it the device is reading it properly. If it reads correctly it will look up against your backend data and show error as it should, then problem is the ticket barcode or print. OK, well I think we have all been there. Were all tested tickets printed on the same Boca? Just wondering... sometimes the boca will still print a visible barcode on the tickets, but the print head is dead and it will not scan. Your problem might be that you are running 6.5. Drop it back to 6.0...read the following.

Randall, to add to Tak Lai, if the simple test proves scanner is ok and the problem is with the barcode on your ticket, check your printer to see if the barcodes are printing ok and there is no missing or partially wiped out bar. Normally if a missing bar is the problem, printing two barcodes - one in vertical and one in horizontal orientation - helps. Usually a printer doesn’t/can’t mess up both. We faced this problem when we had first introduced ticket scanning at Ballet.
