Mail2 Custom Screen Issues

Hi, everyone! We've been having some trouble with the Mail2 Custom Screen recently. Has anyone else had this? It does not show the existing address dropdowns at the top (there's a blank space where they should be) or the big buttons at the bottom, replacing them with tiny tiny squares instead.

We have obviously put in place the known dropdown fix that involves a registry edit, available from Mail2's help site. It is not that. And we also spent a lot of time talking with Chris at Lynch2, who unfortunately hasn't been able to sort out why this isn't working at our organization when it works fine everywhere else, as far as he knows.

It happens even when you just open the link in Internet Explorer as a standalone program. (It works fine in Google Chrome browser, though that doesn't help for the custom screen of course.) IE version does not seem to have anything to do with it. But IE gives us a message that it's going into "compatibility mode" when we try to open that page so that seems to be part of the problem.

Is anyone else having this problem? Did anyone else already have and fix this problem? Write me please!

Many thanks!

-Andrea

  • Hi, David. Jeanne here chiming in, as Andrea and I are working on this one together.  It works on my workstation, running Windows 7 and IE8. It works on our Terminal Server, running Windows 2008R2 and IE9. It does NOT work on Andrea’s running Windows 7 and IE9.  It does not work on another workstation running Windows 7 64bit and IE10. Upgrading Andrea to IE10 didn’t help. We had another person running IE 8 and it was not working for her, either. So we’ve not been able to find a pattern for where it does and doesn’t work. VERY frustrating!

    Hi Andrea,

We had some difficulties with the Mail2 custom screen, although not the specific one you are describing. What operating system are you using specifically? And, which versions of IE have you tried so far?

    Thanks,

    David

    Thanks for the reply, Tak!

We already tried with no extensions, I don't think it's the perfmon thing because the program launches fine, it simply displays the custom screen incorrectly, but thanks for the ideas.

    Andrea,

These are probably not the solution to your problem, but just a shot in the dark:

    1.       We had several machines that just did not like Tessitura and did not let it launch.  The issue turned out to be some corrupt perfmon counters, which required rebuilding.  It was totally unrelated to Tessitura, but it affected it in the weirdest way.

    2.       One other possibility could be some bad plug-ins not working correctly.  Try running without any plugins.  If it works, then it’s one or more of them.  We had some Adobe pdf viewer plug-ins that cause IE to crash on exit.
