'Error: BCP failed' when extracting constituents

I'm trying to use the 'extract constituents' function in Extraction Manager, but every time I run the extraction I get this error:

"BCP Out failed!
Error: BCP failed"

Our tech guy is on holiday - does anyone know what this error means and how I can fix it?

Thanks!

  • Hi Hannah,

The database server may have a more detailed error, and without that we can't know what the issue is for sure.  However, I have seen this error occur because of the following issues:

    1. There is a problem with one of the query elements used in the output set you've selected;  You'll know this is the case if your extraction works when you run it with no output set selected;  If this is the case, you can create a new output set and try adding in your fields one-by-one then running the extraction after each addition to see which one is causing the error.  It's slow and tedious, but works if your tech guy isn't around.

    2. There could be a permissions error on the folder the extraction is trying to write to.  You'll definitely need your tech guy to fix the rights if this is the case.
