VMware\ terminal server

Hi there

We are running our Tessitura system on a virtual server setup using VMware on one of our network domains at our main site.  We have an additional site with a separate domain, which we will be connecting to Tessitura from using a remote published application via a terminal server.

We are having issues with the help system via the remote application, you can open help but when you select one of the documents we get a system error.  When you click on OK on the system error window the remote application closes down.  Does anyone have any experience in this area, which they could share please?

Regards Ewan.

  • Just a couple of thoughts to throw out there -

Is the documentation path in T_defaults listed with UNC Pathing or a mapped drive?  (and do the remote people have access to that path and/or have that drive mapped when they log into the terminal server?)

Does the terminal server have word (or word viewer) installed?

  • HI Jennifer

The documentation pathing is UNC and if you are logged onto the terminal server as the administrator using a full RDP connection you can run to the drive:

    192.168.6.1\Tessitura

The Tessitura folder is a network share.  I was not able to login to the terminal server as a user on a full RDP connection and via the remote application you get Tessitura in a full window with out any of the tools such as run.  Out of interest the terminal server is running on Windows 2008.

We have installed word viewer on the server.

    Regards Ewan.

  • I may be wrong about this but I think that the help system uses a programmatic method to open word that doesn't work with the word viewer.  I haven't seen the help successfully open in word viewer on any of our machines.  Do you have the ability to try installing a full version of Word on the TS?

  • From the Tessitura Help System Document:

As shipped, the Tessitura Help System assumes the user has access to Microsoft Word to view current documentation.  To use a related document viewer instead of MS Word, edit the TR_HELP_DOC_TYPE table and check the Generic Run Method box in rows associated with Microsoft Word documents.  This will cause a Word document to be opened with the associated Word viewing tool.  Note that Word bookmarks will no longer be operational if viewed through the document viewer.

If making this change does not fix the problem I suggest opening a help ticket.
