Shared Credit Card server.

I am replacing the credit card server and I was wondering if anyone has used the CC server for other purposes. I would like to use the server to also house the Tessitura network shared folder where the PBVM, Impresario Client, startup, etc. live. Does anyone has a reason why sharing the Credit card server to house this network folder would create issues? No other applications would run in this server. The new server is a HP ProLiant 320, Xeon processor, 12GB RAM, 250GB OS drives and 1T storage and Windows 8, enterprise R2, 64bits.

Thank you so much in advance for any feedback.

  • There could potentially be a PCI issue.  I believe one of the requirements of PCI is that each server has a specific defined purpose, i.e. database service, file server, credit card server.  It would seem in your case that the server would be a file server and a credit card server.  The requirement sort of makes sense as the more services that a servers hosts, the more attack surfaces are opened up, and you probably want your credit card server to be one of the most secure in the organisation.
