I am replacing the credit card server and I was wondering if anyone has used the CC server for other purposes. I would like to use the server to also house the Tessitura network shared folder where the PBVM, Impresario Client, startup, etc. live. Does anyone has a reason why sharing the Credit card server to house this network folder would create issues? No other applications would run in this server. The new server is a HP ProLiant 320, Xeon processor, 12GB RAM, 250GB OS drives and 1T storage and Windows 8, enterprise R2, 64bits.
Thank you so much in advance for any feedback.
There could potentially be a PCI issue. I believe one of the requirements of PCI is that each server has a specific defined purpose, i.e. database service, file server, credit card server. It would seem in your case that the server would be a file server and a credit card server. The requirement sort of makes sense as the more services that a servers hosts, the more attack surfaces are opened up, and you probably want your credit card server to be one of the most secure in the organisation.
