The NY Philharmonic is in the process of converting to Tessitura, and I'm working on mapping contributions from our old development database (Raiser's Edge) into Tessitura. The standard advice for handling stock gifts is to set up custom data elements in T_CONTRIBUTION, but I'm concerned that solution isn't going to work very well for pledges that get paid with more than one stock transaction.
The way Tessitura is set up, pledges get a T_CONTRIBUTION record, but payments against those pledges are just T_PAYMENT records linked through T_TRANSACTION records. Multiple credit card or check payments don't pose a problem, because T_PAYMENT has fields for check and credit card information--that's really the right place for Stock information, too, but for some reason the system hasn't been set up that way.
Has anybody else developed a good way around this problem?
