N-Scan in rental venue

Hi all,

I am looking at implementing N-Scan and I'm hoping to chat with someone who has done so in a rental venue. I'm curious how some of the technical/server/network issues worked out.

If anyone is willing to chat a bit, I'd really appreciate it!

  • Hi Adrienne, We primarily use NSCAN in our own buildings, but we do host some off-site events every year that we ticket and need to scan people in at. All you need is the IP address of the venue and the wifi login info -- you'll need to get the IP address white listed with RAMP (if you are hosted) and then you'll be all set. As long as we can get on the wifi with the scanners we haven't had any issues.

  • Hi Adrienne!

Are you the renter or the venue in this situation?

If you are the renter, you'll be bringing your own NSCAN devices, which are already configured to communicate with your instance of Tessitura.  While scanners are more reliable if they have their own dedicated, private WiFi (meaning all the patrons and randos passing the venue won't be using it or constantly pinging it), you can connect them to any available signal that has its IP address white listed (as Anne stated.)

If you are the venue, you will need to reconfigure your scanning devices so that they are directed at your renter's instance of Tessitura instead of your own. This is a little fussier, since you'd need to change this setting every time you want to scan for a different organization, and requires a little more testing (making sure tickets scan correctly.)

Let me know if you are still looking for a chat, I'd be happy to help out.

    Best,

    Darryl
