GL format options

I must have missed the memo, but I just discovered that the masks for gl format have changed.

I've changed the t_default setting to all AAAAAA for any character, which would be fine except it does not let me use a space or a dash.  (previously we could have the !!!!!! for open format and spaces & dashes were allowed).

Our organization houses different companies whose use of spaces & dashes are not uniform in gls.

Was it the intention to have the "A" settting represent only numbers/letters and not spaces/dashes? Or am I totaly missing something that would help me out?

    Hi Sharon

Our T_DEFAULTS.GL NUMBER FORMAT setting is completely blank.

That means that we can put anything in at all.

With six different orgs in the consortium with completely different GL coding patterns, that's really the only solution - until Tess makes the setting org-aware, anyway. Actually, there are different patterns even within the one org in some cases, so unless it's more flexible, with multiple options, we probably wouldn't be able to use it.

  • Greetings All.  This issue arises because of a way the PowerBuilder code works.  We have found that if you use an uppercase X that you are able to use number, letters, and other characters (spaces and dashes) in the GL format.  We will update the documentation to reflect the change.

    Best,

    Anna
