How do you keep Inventory of your workstations?

I've been using the old spreadsheet method for keeping an inventory of our 120+ workstations (users, hardware, OS, etc).  I know there has to be a better and more robust method out there that doesn't cost anything (or very little).

How do you keep track of WS inventory and manage the roll outs/downs?
