Converting an individual to a household using a stored procedure

We are in the early stages of Tessitura implementation, and we have an “opportunity” with individual data as it was imported into Tessitura.

For some of our individual records, the customer name is similar to Mr. John Smith.

The salutation field for these records is similar to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.

There is not a separate individual record for Mrs. John Smith, nor a household record for Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.

In our original source data, these records were marked as individuals and not as households.

It appears the import process worked correctly (imported the records as individuals) and our source data wasn’t entirely correct.

There are hundreds of individual records like this.

Using the original source data (not from Tessitura), our Development group mailed notices to these “individuals”.

They mailed a notice to the individual record Mr. John Smith, and the letter was addressed to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.

For this mailing, I converted individuals to households where required and our immediate needs should be OK.

In Tessitura  for the remaining “individuals”, it appears we may need to:

1)    Convert the individual record for John Smith to a household.  This will:

a.    convert the individual to a household (John Smith Household)

b.    create a new individual (John Smith) record

c.    link this individual record (John Smith) to the “new” John Smith Household record

2)    Create a new individual record for Mrs. John Smith, and then link this individual record (Mrs. John Smith) to the John Smith Household.

I know how to convert the individual records to households (I’ve already used this process many times, and it works great).

However (and obviously), it will require *a lot* of time to do this manually for hundreds of records.

Also, I realize it may be better to be reactive (and not pro-active) to future changes.

Is there a stored procedure that will allow me to pass in the customer_no, and the stored procedure manages the other steps?

Wishing our U.S. colleagues a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

Best Regards
