Non-Standard CC/Transcend Setup - Does anyone do this?

The server we were using to support running SuperCharge and the Tessitura credit card server processes crashed unexpectedly last night and is not recoverable.    In order to get things back up and going, what I did was install the Tessitura credit card server on the Tessitura application/database server and I'm running Transcend and the Tessitura credit card server from there. (We were going to upgrade to Transcend this week anyway.)  I realize this is not the "Tessitura recommended" approach.  What I would like to know is:

- Is anyone else running a setup like this?

- If so, do you have any recommendations on configurations, monitoring, and/or potential upgrades to the box?

I'm going to have to present a case on what we should do to resolve this situation - buy a new (physical) server; implement Transcend and the Tessitura credit card server on a virtual box or potential run the system the way it is until the next major upgrade for our consortium (which should happen within the year).   Does anyone have any input on these alternatives?  Are there other alternatives I should be considering?

Thanks

    Carol,

I hate to admit this in a public forum like this, but we've been running our production environment on a single server for the last several years and it's been (knock on wood) fine.  In fact, we had a serious network outage last year during our grand opening gala week and having everything on a single server made resolving the issue fairly easy (I just "tossed" the server in the back of my truck and drove it down to the box office and brought the network up locally!).

We just went live with online single tickets and the web api runs on it's on server (both live and test instances on the same server).

I'm in the process (in my copious free time) of moving the non-Tessitura functions (file and print sharing) to another server to help lighten the load (it's not been a serious issue yet - our network has been the bigger issue).  As the orgainzation continues to grow, I'm sure we'll need to investigate moving the credit card and seat servers onto their own servers.

I'm running on Dell Poweredge 1800 servers, I don't remember the specs right off, but I'm happy to pull them if you want.  I know it's a dual processor system and I think each processor is a dual core.

If you have any other questions - let me know.  I'll be at the conference as well.
