SSRS Template's report parameters are random

Anyone else ever had this issue? I'm working on updating the SSRS reports I've made to V11 in our V11 Test system, so I was starting with the latest template, and the ones that I got working are great -- except that the parameter block has nothing to do with the rest of the report. It seems like it's using a random session ID, or possibly pulling the session parameter info from Live or v10 Test while the rest of the report is coming from our V11 test system?

Anyone ever had an issue like this?

  • It’s actually in the Manage page, accessible from the dropdown menu for a report.  You need to be using Internet Explorer to access the dropdown menu by clicking the arrow to the right of a report.  From there, one of the pages is Data Sources.

    Hi Ryan,

I don’t see where the report properties are in Report Manager.

Keep in mind that there is a setting called OverwriteDatasources on the Visual Studio project.  By default this is false which means that changes to the datasource will not be deployed to the report server when the full project is deployed.

The easiest way to check the datasource is to log onto the Report Manager from Internet Explorer and check out the report properties and the datasource properties directly on the Report Server.  From there, you can check out which database is being used for each datasource.

Hey, Ryan, how would I check that?

It seems like a plausible idea, but I thought that changing which profile the Configuration Manager points to would change the database for all the reports that got deployed.

Seems to me like you have the report pointing to a different datasource than the current DB you are running .  In other words, is the report’s datasource pointing to TEST when you are running the report in LIVE?
