Howdy - we set up a few custom customer types called "X Contact" for folks here. They wanted to be able to search both by the org name and the individual name - but we also used the pre-setup "Corporate Contact" record a bit (for group sales and such).
My question is this: We're prepping our system and data for v11 and we're getting error saying, "Corporate Contact (N1N2_format of IO) has no associations to create affiliation"
Does this mean that a contact record will have to have an assocation back to a Corporate record? If so, we need to create a whole lot of extra corporate and school records to tie these records back to. Is this the case or is the error message just a "warning" type message?
Thanks!
RJ
Hi Richard,
My understanding with Corporate Contact (IO) accounts that don't have an association to a Corporate record is that in v11 these records will be converted to single name Individual accounts and that N2 (Company or School name) will reside in this account as an Alias in the Names tab. So these accounts will still be searchable on the company name, but this name will not appear on the general tab.
This is a situation that we are dealing with ourselves, as many of our teacher records were built as CorpContact without an association to a School record. In our case there weren't actually that many new accounts to build, and it was definitely a priority to affiliate them to the school record.
There are still quite a few CorpContacts with no association. The plan is to filter out those accounts with either non-existent or very stale data ( a very large percentage at first glance) and concentrate on ensuring formatting is in place for accounts with activity. So again I don't think we will need to build too many Corporate accounts.
