Mail2 Unsubs

Hey Mail2 Users,

When you did the initial import of subscribers into Mail2, did you import the unsubscribes or people with the marketing flag unchecked? We did not do that because it would essentially put us over our total subscribers. However, if someone who was unsubbed before Mail2 wants to resub they would end up creating a new account because Mail2 won't find them in its database. How have you handled this?

  • Hi Gloria,

I don’t recall the exact sequence of events, but we ended up loading in all addresses that we had flagged to suppress in Tessitura into the global unsubscribe list in Mail2. One reason we did this is we actually had someone receive an email who was supposed to be suppressed (perhaps it was accidently loaded into Mail2 at some point). Doing this minimized the chance of errors.

However, I believe if you have a new Email address to Mail2, but that address already exists in Tessitura, Mail2 will actually tie their Mail2 subscription(s) to the existing constituent rather than placing the email address on your generic Mail2 constituent. You may want to try that out just to be certain. Lastly, you may want to consider a process that will automatically check the marketing flag if someone later opts-in.

    Thanks,

    David
