loading the wrong package

Hi - we've created our mini packages for the upcoming season, but are still selling mini packages for our current season. We've found that when two packages have the same package code, no matter which of the two is selected, Tessitura will only load one of them. For some of the packages it's the current season's package, and for others it's the upcoming season's package. I'm wondering if this is because we're using the same package code for two different seasons? Is anyone else reusing package codes? Have you seen this behavior before?

thanks

Brian

  • We don't normally reuse package codes, even in different seasons, but I think I ran into this once when we accidentally had two pkgs with the same pkg code. They had different descriptions though, which is actually how we realized the mistake, because people would type in the pkg code in the lineitem dropdown and then see the name of a completely different pkg, even if they intentionally picked one or the other from the dropdown.

This might not help,  but I seem to remember if we went through the Product Catalogue Search and added the pkg to the order from there, instead of clicking add from the lineitem screen, one could get one or the other of the two packages. So that might be a workaround for you.

  • Everyone always forgets about the product search. Works perfectly. Thanks Amanda!

  • Hi Brian,

Sounds like you've got it worked out. I just wanted to throw in that we do re-use the same basic package codes every year but we prefix it with the 2 digit fiscal year to help keep them separate. So instead of reusing PKG1, PKG2, PKG3, etc every year we have 12PKG1, 12PKG2, 12PKG3 this season and next season we have 13PKG1, 13PKG2, 13PKG3.

  • We do the same thing, but with just one digit.  So the current season (11-12) packages are 1PKG1, and next season (12-13) are 2PKG1.  We only ever sell two seasons at a time, so one digit was enough to keep them apart for us.
