Web Anonymous Login and Promo Codes

Anybody out there that uses an anonymous login on the web to allow the patron to shop prior to logging in with their own login. Do you allow the patron to use a promo code while they shop (Still logged in with anonymous)? Is there any issues with using the anonymous login with promo codes and then transferring the cart when the patron does log in?

Thanks,

Parents
  • Hello Marty

The way we use promo codes is that you have to enter them before you add tickets to your cart. This then adds the discounted ticket price to the list of price options for the user, OR, it makes dates available to them when they weren’t before adding the code (this is where a promo code is linked to a MOS). Then the customer adds the tickets to their basket in the normal way.

We had Pop do this for us, so whether entering the promo code also creates the anonymous login, I’m not sure.

  • Christopher,

Do your customers have to log in as themselves before they can use a promo code?

  • Not for us.  You can use the promo code without logging in.  The website makes use of an anonymous customer id in tessitura.

  • Marty

No. We use promo codes mostly for people who aren’t our existing customers, and we are usually offering a discount, or early access to tickets, on one show, so we send them to the relevant production dates page, where we have a promo code box and they enter their code, select the tickets, add to basket, go to checkout and then get the login/register prompt.
