Transcend and Tessitura CC Services

Am I losing my mind?  Okay, don't answer that.... the thing is my colleague and i are remembering completely different things when it comes to the order of starting things up on the credit card server.  Does Transcend need to be completely up before the Tessitura CC Service or after?

Thanks.

  • We used to use a dummy cc to verify connectivity and that was not a good enough acid test.  I am really new here so I may not be the best sounding board but I have noticed that Transcend can appear to be in a working state with a positive connection but not actually be connected.  I have not tried the getapidiagnostics test though.

Again, thanks for your input.  I too normally follow up with a test transaction but normally from the Tess client.  The log file is helpful as well.

On a different note, do you think Transcend ever appears started but isn’t but to the point that it passes the GETAPIDIAGNOSTICS test?  The reason I ask is we had problems with our website last week during a huge on sale.  Everything looked fine on the diagnostics test however our site, which is hosted off site, stopped.  Our host said “The data was not in an valid xml format which was killing the site's parser of said data.”

Not sure what that means but I’m trying to find out where the problem lies..  bringing me to reboot transcend on Mondays….

We have it set to automatic but due to history we manually restart as well and test it with a web e-commerce transaction to ensure that it is working end to end.  That is the only acceptable criteria of success for the customer.  “Did my charge go through and did I receive an e-mail confirmation?”  I have been on the team for 3 month and have been burned by transcend appearing to be started but not making an honest connection.

Thanks – our cc server is set to manual so we always have to start it which normally I do after the reboot and Transcend has started.  Maybe I should start, stop, start?  I had made it manual several years back so we’d make sure Transcend was started (not sure why I didn’t use .ini to check) before starting it so we would not have to stop/restart.  Does that even make sense?

Since then someone else has been keeping an eye on it which brought the whole question up this morning.

I got the forcefully rejected error yesterday after an emergency restore and I rebooted the cc server stopped and started the ccserver service and voila.  All was well in the world.  My recommendation is to always stop and start the ccserver service after a reboot and transcend (TPA tray) has successfully started.

That is what I thought and makes absolute sense, but he swears he’s been doing the opposite for months.

Oh well.  We were getting the forcefully rejected error this morning after I rebooted the Transcend server and started the Tess side after Transcend.    He came in and ‘fixed it’ - says he stopped Transcend, restarted Tess CC, started Transcend and then we were okay.

I don’t know, we get issues once in awhile so we’re making rebooting Transcend part of the Monday morning routine… and our CC ini file does not check to see if transcend is running.

    Anyway, thanks for your response.

Definitely before.  CC service needs Transcend to talk to the payment processor.  There’s even a setting in CC ini file which controls CC service to not start if Transcend is not up.
