Folks,
I'm not sure if my question will be invalidated by the change from Associations to Affiliations in v11 but here goes.
Our current ticketing system has a "group" facility where users are members of a group and in that group one can be made the principal contact - as opposed to the one to one relationship in Tessitura. So, if we have a group of 4 subscribers we can quickly and easily see the members of the group rather than in Tessitura having to individually associate each of the constituents with the other 3 members of that group so that you can see the other associated constituents regardless of which of the 4 members of the group you're currently displaying.
Does anyone else do this?
Is it a moot point in v11?
What say you, oh gurus of Tess?
Hi Martin,
In v11 affiliations should make handling this situation a little easier. You could have a household for the principal contact (whether or not that person has an actual household, e.g. family) and then use non-primary affiliations to link the group members with that household. The affiliation type you use can be set to Show With Group, so that the group members would be listed on the General tab and in the Constituent Navigator so that you can easily see all the members in the group, and the affiliations can be set so that whenever one of the individuals in the group is returned in the search results the household is listed under them. You would probably not want to use a primary affiliation though, as that is really intended only for people who live together and hence share data (like an address and tickets). Because of that all ticket transactions would still have to go through the primary contact household record. Another option would be to use an organization constituent record for the group instead of a household, but that would mean even the primary contact would have to go through the group record to access the tickets. That might not be best for a subscriber situation, but it might be good for a group sale situation.
If you'd like some more insight on how people are handling this in v10, I suggest reposting your question in the Ticketing forum as this forum doesn't receive nearly as much traffic.
