Scheduled Reports being sent in unknown format

Hi, I have been trying to set up a few scheduled reports for my department and though they always seem to work the first schedule after that they send the reports in an unrecognized file type which Windows simply lists as "File". This has happened to me with emailing both in excel format and in PDF format. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
