Saving reports as MS Word

Folks,

Sorry if this has been asked and answered but I can't locate any previous thread.  When running reports that are based on an InfoMaker object and then selecting File/Save as does not have MS Word listed as an option - although Excel, PDF (and the other usual suspects) are.  Is there a way to enable this?  We have occasions where we would like to generate an acknowledgement from an order but edit it before saving and sending.

Any clues?  Thanks!

Martin

  • Hi Martin

No, unfortunately not directly in the way that you describe.

Your only option would be to do a merge to a Word template. With the Confirmation on screen take the option ‘File’ then ‘Merge’, then navigate to a prepared Word merge template.

This would create a Word doc which can then be edited.

I think the best option for that is to Merge into a word doc.

  • The short answer is Reporting Services, which includes Word as a native export format.

  • Ryan,

Does this mean that SSRS is available for Order Acknowledgements?  We were under the impression that IM was the only possibility - but VERY happy to be proved wrong on that one!

Do you have a definitive list anywhere of objects within Tess where we're limited to IM?  I know headers and interactive custom screens are but any others we should know about?  Obviously, we'd much prefer to have as much as is possible written in SSRS........

    Martin

  • Right now, SSRS integration is limited to Custom Reports, Constituent Reports, and Custom Screens.

SSRS is not available for Acknowledgments in the Order window.  We do hope to incorporate SSRS into more areas of the application in future versions.  You could certainly use the existing procedure (TP_ORDER_ACK) to customize an SSRS report.  It just wouldn’t be available in the order window.

PS. Let me also point out that this is a great enhancement request.
