Hi all,
I've been asked to supply a couple questions for applicants of our new IT Dir. position that would help determine their potential understanding of the Tessitura software world, specifically.Since applicants won't likely have firsthand knowledge of Tessitura, I'm curious as to what might be some good questions to ask other than maybe how familiar someone might be with CRM type software.
We've got all the other server and infrastructure etc. questions covered I think.
Any ideas are welcome.
Cheers!
PS. Hopefully this is an okay thing to ask on the forums, as I don't recall seeing a question like this before.
As a new hire to the Santa Fe Opera who got thrown into this a mere 6 weeks ago I would suggest the following:
1. Knowledge of SQL
2. Knowledge of interfaces
3. Data modeling
4. Report writing and different flavors of reports
5. Data backups
6. E-commerce and ticket on demand. Have they used fandango?
Good Luck
John Brandt

Hi Ryan, I'd throw security into the mix since PCI compliance is such a hot and important topic. SSRS and Visual Studio are a plus too since they are much more utilized in V.11.
Good luck!

Not sure what your interview format will be but a stress interview is helpful. Bring in a roundtable of non-techie users and let them ask whatever questions come to mind. Observe how the candidate reacts to the questions. It can be quite stressful but that is the nature of the beast with this level of position.
Thanks

Thanks all for the input via forum and email!
Just to clarify a bit, we do have someone employed that handles most report writing and upgrades, etc. and I do all the end user support as well as some report writing and tech/Tessitura jargon translating, so the IT Dir. will really only be involved in high level administration, server maintenance, etc..I will be sure to ask all these questions if they aren't brought up by anyone else.
Anymore input is always welcome,
