Anybody know what causes the number of times the "xyz does not pass the validation test" error pops up? I know what causes the error itself, but it seems like sometimes when I have a typo in one pmap the error pops up twice, sometimes thrice, sometimes more. I thought it might be related to the number of pmaps currently set to whatever price type it is, but that doesn't seem to be it.

Did you ever figure this out? I get this validation error sometime when trying to put notes in contribution detial window. Is there some place to edit the character limitation?

Feel free to report this in a support ticket. This, while not a show-stopping defect, is something we try to prevent from happening in most places.
This is the underlying technology framework's default way of saying "I can't handle this", which is typically what happens when you enter a letter into a numeric field.
It sometimes occurs multiple times because of additional error checking code that happens beyond the initial fault.
