Hi guys,
I know that this is a common problem for many organizations - reporting on Package Sales without letting the exchanges interfere with the numbers.
If I understand correctly, the long story short is that when a package seat it exchanged it is then considered to be a single ticket sale. Right?
Anyway, our Executive Director and our Director of Finance wants package seats to still be considered package seats after they've been exchanged. After doing some research, this is proving to be an impossible task.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me? We don't currently have T-Stats so I can't appease them with an awesome T-Stats report. I can't find a shared report that does what I'm looking for. Also, we don't currently have anyone that can write us a custom report. :)
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Beth
This can be done - if you set up price types for the exchanges with the price type category of subscriptions and then use the sales by price type category reports.
Here is an excerpt from the season overview document that talks about it:
800x600 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
The second option identifies package performance seats based on price type category. Any seat with a price type category of Subscription is counted as a package seat. As long as exchanged package seats continue to use a price type in the Subscription category they will continue to be counted as package seats. Additionally, seats with a price type category of Discount (generally discounted single tickets) and those with a user defined price type category (any categories added beyond the standard five) are counted in separate categories. With this method it is not possible to distinguish between fixed seat and non-fixed seat (flex) packages. This method for indentifying package seats is the same method used by the Performance Sales Summary by PT Category report.
The full season overview doc can be found here - highly recommend reading that as there is a T_defaults setting you also might want to change so that season overview matches this reporting method.
Hi Jennifer!
Thanks for that. I did come across this document at one point and have already made the changes to T_DEFAULTS as outlined there.
I think that using the Sale by PT Category type reports as you suggest would work except that in some cases it is not possible to use a package price type for the Exchanged To performance. I think that for our next season build (which should be starting shortly) I'll be discussing this with the team to see if we can make this happen.
Just need to find a way to keep everyone happy for the rest of this season!
