SSRS prompting to login via tessi

Hi:

We recently cut over our live server to a new Windows 2008 R2 Server with SQL Server 2008 R2 also.  Most everything went well, however, now when I try to connect to an SSRS report using Tessitura I am prompted to login.  I can open the reports in internet explorer on the server and from our terminal servers without any issues.  I checked our kerberos authentication (terminal servers) and the local intranet site in security and everything is OK.  I know that it is something simple that I am missing, but I cannot think of what it is.  This was all working prior to restoring the live db and renaming the server and changing the IP address.  Also, the report server is connecting to the correct server in configuration.

FYI:  I also learned that parameters are not necessarily updated when redeploying an SSRS report, you have to delete the report and redeploy for the change to appear.  (my contribution to the network)

  • You could also try recycling the application pool.

    Hi Jennifer:

We only have Post reports.  I will see if we can reboot in the wee hours of the morning.  That would be awesome if a reboot fixes it.

Does it only happen on POST reports or does it happen on POST reports and URL SSRS Reports?  We've found that occasionally we have seen an issue pop up where it prompts for credentials only on the POST reports and a reboot of the server where IIS is running fixes it (haven't been able to figure out what breaks it though, unfortunately), but that's something to try if you find it seems to be just POST reports.

I was hopeful but it didn't work.

  • Restarting the server still might. I'm pretty sure this happened with us and recycling the application pool didn't resolve it, but the restart did.

  • You could also check your Security Settings in internet explorer.  Sometimes you will need to make sure that you have the Server in your Trust / Intranet zones and make sure for that zone you have the User Authenication (Right at the end of options) is set to Automatic Logon with current username and password.
