Hi all,
We have a campaign that was erroneously associated with a membership organization. The setup issue has been corrected, but now I have about half a dozen gifts that are linked to a membership in error.
I'd like to delete these contributions from tx_cont_memb. It looks like that will work, but I'm concerned about impacting the data in a negative way.
Any advice?
Thanks!
Mara
Hey Mara! I’ve had no issues doing that. When we first implemented, there were several such changes we wanted to make to some major memberships, and it worked fine to delete or change data in those. You’ll just want to do it carefully and double-check the status of the membership after you’re done.
On a similar note, during our Shared Reports session at the conference, we presented on a pretty cool looking (I haven’t tried it yet) custom screen that allows you to manage the relationships between gifts and memberships – i.e. as I understand it, doing the kind of thing you’re trying to do, but from the client, rather than messing around in SQL.
Take care!

Hi, Mara:
I second Kirk. I’ve manually edited a couple of thousand contributions in memberships in the process of adding a new membership organization to replace two other organizations.
As long as you are careful, you shouldn’t have an issue.
